Neighborhood Planning
Members will utilize the Master Plan to develop neighborhood planning strategies and activities to carry out the community vision. Broadly, member tasks might involve: Track the progress of Master Plan implementation and identify areas of future efforts; Meet with community groups to build relationships and to improve community between the City and target neighborhoods; Review the Imagine Flint Master Plan and Blight Elimination Framework; Conduct and provide research and data; including GIS maps, neighborhood meeting responses, surveys, etc., to make decisions about neighborhood planning activities Research best practices; Provide resource management for neighborhood park plans; Develop and manage volunteer recruitment and retention systems for neighborhood planning projects; Research and apply for grants; Share the story of success of the projects with stakeholders and community members; Collaborate with National Service members in the city on shared projects
Parks Planning
Members will utilize the Master Plan to develop parks planning strategies and activities to carry out the community vision. Broadly, member tasks might involve: Track the progress of Master Plan implementation and identify areas of future efforts; Meet with community groups to build relationships and to improve community between the City and target neighborhoods; Review the Imagine Flint Master Plan and Blight Elimination Framework; Research best practices; Work with residents to create inventory assessments of all city parks; Work with groups to detail strategies to address weaknesses found in assessments; Develop and manage volunteer recruitment and retention systems for parks projects; Research and apply for grants; Share the story of success of the projects with stakeholders and community members; Collaborate with National Service members in the city on shared projects
Land Bank
Members will utilize the Master Plan to develop strategies and activities to carry out the community vision. Broadly, member tasks might involve: Track the progress of Master Plan implementation and identify areas of future efforts; Build the capacity of the GCLBA’s Lots Available program; Provide outreach to residents about opportunities to lease, adopt and purchase vacant lots with a strong focus on Master Plan Implementation strategies; Build and support systems that review and approve vacant property lease and adoption agreements; Build the capacity of the GCLBA’s Clean & Green program; Map all Clean & Green maintenance for nearly 25,000 properties within the City of Flint for use with the newly created Flint Property Portal website; Create systems that track reports submitted by Clean & Green participants, and share the story of successes of the Clean & Green program; Build the capacity of the Flint Property Portal; Collaborate with National Service members in the city on shared projects; Provide GIS Mapping and data analysis for use with program operation and evaluation; Review the Imagine Flint Master Plan and Blight Elimination Framework, Research best practices.
Blight Division
Members will utilize the Master Plan to develop blight elimination strategies and activities to carry out the community vision. Broadly, member tasks might involve: Track the progress of Master Plan implementation and identify areas of future efforts; Facilitate the operation of the Vacant Property Maintenance Program; Collaborate with community groups and local organizations to bring awareness of blight elimination projects; Collect and manage data from residents concerning problem sites, status of maintained sites, and other pertinent information concerning vacant lots located in the city; Provide resource management for the Love Your Block program; Recruit and Organize volunteers for blight elimination projects; Update city systems with blight elimination project clean up dates and resource requests; Track progress, create reports, and share the story of successes through the program; Build the capacity of the Flint Property Portal; Collaborate with National Service members in the city on shared projects; Review the Imagine Flint Master Plan and Blight Elimination Framework, Research best practices.
Community Recovery Liaison
Members will utilize the Master Plan to develop strategies and activities to carry out the community vision. Broadly, member tasks might involve: Develop a list of all community groups operating in the assigned neighborhood; Collaborate with Chief Recovery Officer to design and develop long term water recovery programs; Meet with community and neighborhood groups to build relationships and to identify needs regarding water recovery; Develop social media profile for water recovery updates and announcements; Aid in the dissemination of water recovery information to community groups; Organize and recruit volunteers for local community recovery events; Make connections with civic leaders and business leaders to identify opportunity for collaboration; Identify "champions" in the neighborhood, active residents and leaders to rely on for regular support; Review the Imagine Flint Master Plan and Blight Elimination Framework; Research best practices.
Neighborhood Engagement Hub
Members will utilize the Master Plan to develop neighborhood planning strategies and activities to carry out the community vision. Broadly, member tasks might involve: Track the progress of Master Plan implementation and identify areas of future efforts; Meet with community groups to build relationships between the City, Neighborhood Engagement Hub, and Flint’s North Central Neighborhoods; Review the Imagine Flint Master Plan and Blight Elimination Framework; Conduct and provide research and data; including GIS maps, neighborhood meeting responses, surveys, etc., to make decisions about neighborhood planning activities; Research best practices; Provide resource management for neighborhood groups; Develop and manage volunteer recruitment and retention systems for neighborhood planning projects; Research and apply for grants; Share the story of success of the projects with stakeholders and community members; Collaborate with other National Service members on shared projects.
